Fantasy Football Injuries to Know for Week 12
Joe Burrow (QB – CIN)
Joe Burrow (toe) practiced on Thursday.
Joe Burrow looks to be ahead of schedule in his return, getting in another practice on Thursday. This gives him an outside chance to return to the lineup against the Bengals this week. Even though Ja’Marr Chase is suspended for this game, the Patriots have a pass-funnel defense, so Burrow could make a fantasy impact if he’s good to go.
David Njoku (TE – CLE)
David Njoku (knee) missed practice on Thursday.
David Njoku is dealing with a knee injury, which puts his status in doubt for Week 12 against the Raiders. I anticipate Njoku missing this game, which will give Harold Fannin Jr. more snaps. It’s a good spot for Fannin because Shedeur Sanders is likely to pass at a higher rate than Dillon Gabriel, who tends to scramble a little more.
Lamar Jackson (QB – BAL)
Lamar Jackson (ankle) returned to practice on Thursday.
Lamar Jackson was able to get back to practice on Thursday. While he’s not at risk of missing Week 12 versus the Jets, it’s clear Jackson is not 100% healthy right now. I’m expecting the Ravens to lean on Derrick Henry in a game where they should cruise to victory. For that reason, it’s wise to temper expectations this week.
Jaxson Dart (QB – NYG)
Jaxson Dart (concussion) practiced on Thursday.
Jaxson Dart got in another practice on Thursday, so it looks like he’ll be ready to return in Week 12 against the Lions. However, given the concussion and how the Giants are out of contention, I expect Dart to run at a lower rate than usual. There’s no need for him to risk injury in a lost season. For that reason, we need to bump him down in fantasy football rankings slightly.
Josh Jacobs (RB – GB)
Josh Jacobs (knee) participated in individual drills on Thursday.
Josh Jacobs surprisingly participated in individual drills on Thursday, giving a glimmer of hope that he can play against the Vikings this week. While I still expect Jacobs to miss this game, he’s the type of player who consistently plays through injuries. I’d continue to fire up Emanuel Wilson as an RB2/Flex, but make sure to monitor the injury report.
Chris Godwin (WR – TB)
Chris Godwin (fibula) practiced on Thursday.
Chris Godwin got in yet another practice, so it’s clear he’s close to a return. I believe Godwin will play this week, but expect to see a snap count since he’s had such a long layoff. Buccaneers offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard has already stated this in the media. With that in mind, consider Godwin to be merely a stash until he gets in a groove.
Bucky Irving (RB – TB)
Bucky Irving (shoulder/foot) practiced on Thursday.
Bucky Irving is almost ready to return, just like Chris Godwin. It’s the same story here: We’re likely to get a snap count, allowing Irving to get eased back into action. If he plays, I’d still fire up Sean Tucker as a desperation Flex in this spot against the Rams because the third-year running back showed excellent burst against the Bills, putting up a huge spike week.
Editor’s Note: WFLA’s The Ronder Barber Show said Irving is not expected to play this week.
Bhayshul Tuten (RB – JAX)
Bhayshul Tuten (ankle) has practiced this week.
Bhayshul Tuten had a breakout game against the Chargers, out-carrying Travis Etienne before departing with an ankle injury. While Etienne is still going to get a chunk of the touches, this now looks like more of a committee with upside for an even greater role for Tuten. He looked terrific against the Chargers.
