Week 5 of the fantasy basketball season is nearly here, and there are still some surprise names popping up on the fantasy radar. The Detroit Pistons are rolling with backup point guard Daniss Jenkins playing like an all-star. Could Jaylon Tyson be the man in Cleveland? Also, where did Moussa Cisse come from?? Fantasy Basketball Category League Waiver Wire Pickups
Points
Daniss Jenkins (PG – DET) | 6% Rostered
Although Cade Cunningham has been out for the last two games with a hip injury, the Pistons haven’t missed a beat, thanks to the services of two-way player Daniss Jenkins. After going undrafted in 2024, the young guard found his way to Detroit via free agency and has clearly broken out in 2025, averaging 21 points, 7.5 assists and 6 rebounds over his last two games.
Jenkins is just a stream candidate for now as he’s sure to level out when Cade Cunningham is back and healthy. However, savvy fantasy managers should be paying close attention to the Pistons’ injury report as Jenkins will be a surefire add while Cade remains sidelined.
Duncan Robinson (SF – DET) | 22% Rostered
Daniss Jenkins is not the only Pistons player to monitor in fantasy next week, and Duncan Robinson will not be the last one mentioned in this article. Robinson can pretty much always be relied on for threes, but he’s also averaged 17 points over his last four games. Robinson’s role on the team is also more secure than Jenkins’ as he’s played 30+ minutes in nearly every game this season and performed relatively well.
Robinson is a name to monitor right now, and he’s worth adding while he’s currently stuffing the stat sheet in multiple categories. Points and threes are always a must for Robinson’s overall fantasy outlook, but his field goal percentages and surprising contribution to the steals category are a welcome sight for fantasy managers.
Assists
Lonzo Ball (PG – CLE) | 18% Rostered
Lonzo Ball had one of his best games of the season on Wednesday in a spot-start situation with 15 points and 8 assists in just 20 minutes. Fantasy managers likely know the unfortunate story with Ball’s injury history, and he is still not cleared for back-to-back sets at this point in the season.
Despite his usual bench role and playing restrictions, Ball is still proving he has fantasy value in the assists category with limited minutes, especially when Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, or both are out of the lineup.
Brandon Williams (PG – DAL) | 36% Rostered
Anthony Davis and P.J. Washington are all dealing with injuries for the Dallas Mavericks. Meanwhile, Dante Exum remains out, and D’Angelo Russell has returned to a bench role. Enter Brandon Williams. The fourth-year guard has enjoyed a particularly strong run as of late, with his minutes pushing up into the 30+ range and his assist totals increasing as a result.
Williams has at least 3 assists in three of his last six games, with nine dimes coming against the Suns this past Wednesday. Although D’Angelo Russell outshone nearly every Mavericks player in the overtime loss to the Clippers last night, Williams is still a very rosterable player right now and has the potential to be a must-roster player if he can find consistent minutes.
Rebounds
Jaylon Tyson (SF – CLE) | 30% Rostered
Lonzo Ball is not the only Cleveland player on the rise in fantasy. Although Jaylon Tyson is currently dealing with a concussion and missed the last three games, the 22-year-old averaged 6.25 rebounds over his last 4 games before the injury.
Keep an eye on the injury report, but one could argue that Tyson is worth a preemptive grab on the waiver wire due to some lingering injuries for key Cavs players. Tyson will have the opportunity to come back healthy and reclaim his large role with the team.
Noah Clowney (PF – BKN) | 19% Rostered
The Brooklyn Nets still have just 1 win this season, but surprisingly, things aren’t all bad. Noah Clowney seems like the man to grab in fantasy, especially after his start on Tuesday against the Raptors. Clowney’s 8 rebounds were a team high, but he also added on 2 steals, 2 blocks and 18 points in his productive 35 minutes.
The Nets are looking for any bright spots right now, so Clowney has a solid chance to continue serving in this larger role and grabbing a ton of boards in the process. Despite fouling out in last night’s game, Clowney was still able to secure 4 rebounds to go with his 12 points, 3 assists and perfect free throw percentage.
Blocks
Moussa Cisse (C – DAL) | 1% Rostered
Although we could be highlighting Moussa Diabate again here (who is still just 30% rostered, by the way), I will instead shift my focus to the other Moussa – the backup center for the Dallas Mavericks. With Anthony Davis currently dealing with an injury and Dereck Lively just recovering from one, Moussa Cisse has at least 2 blocks in each of his last five games in just 20 minutes or less.
While Cisse doesn’t have much of a chance to claim a larger role in Dallas, Cisse is the ideal blocks streamer while the aforementioned Mavericks centers are out.
Jordan Walsh (PF – BOS) | 1% Rostered
Jordan Walsh earned himself a starting opportunity with his big contributions against the 76ers on Tuesday, which included two blocks. In Walsh’s starting opportunity against the Grizzlies on Wednesday, he notched another two blocks in 11 fewer minutes.
Minnott seems to be the odd man out of the starting lineup in Boston for now, so keep an eye on Walsh in fantasy, especially for the blocks category.
Steals
Ron Holland (PF – DET) | 17% Rostered
As mentioned above, the Pistons are rolling right now despite dealing with several injuries. Like Daniss Jenkins, Ron Holland is benefiting from these absences, but mainly in the steals category, where he is averaging 2.0 steals per game over his last four.
Holland hasn’t shown great consistency in this early part of his NBA career, but he’s been hot as of late and is the perfect streamer to pick up until Ausar Thompson, Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey return.
Herbert Jones (SF – NOP) | 46% Rostered
Herbert Jones has played all 4+ seasons of his NBA career with the New Orleans Pelicans and is typically known for filling up the defensive stats in fantasy. However, Jones has bounced on and off 12-team league rosters each season due to injury and lack of consistent performance when healthy.
Fantasy managers hoping for consistent performances from Jones will be happy to learn that he has played no less than 29 minutes over his last 6 games and averaged 1.5 steals over that span. A preemptive add of Jones can’t hurt, but don’t get too attached or add him in favor of more suitable candidates.
Three-Pointers Made
Brice Sensabaugh (SG – UTH) | 11% Rostered
Utah’s 22-year-old guard has been trending up lately while averaging 2.3 made three-pointers over his last four games. The Jazz have interesting bench pieces with Kyle Filipowski, Isaiah Collier and Sensabaugh as the young guns, while Kevin Love‘s veteran presence still commands 15 minutes.
With Ace Bailey now in the starting lineup, Utah is still searching for their consistent spark off the bench, so Sensabaugh is certainly a name to watch going forward.
Keon Ellis (SG – SAC) | 6% Rostered
Fantasy managers are still waiting for Keon Ellis to break out for the Kings, as he’s shown flashes as a two-way player throughout his career. The Kings are also rumored to be moving on from a few of their veteran players at some point this season to spark a rebuild, so regardless of his performance, Ellis could be a solid stash play.
That being said, Ellis dropped 6 threes in Wednesday night’s game against the Hawks, and 3 more last night in 22 minutes against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Ellis is worth keeping an eye on to see if he can maintain any consistent traction from a fantasy perspective.
Field Goal Percentage
Tony Bradley (C – IND) | 1% Rostered
Bradley was recently named the starting center over the last two games for the Indiana Pacers – hence the low roster percentage. Bradley has been shooting efficiently so far this season and has continued that as a starter with a slight bump in field goal attempts.
The lowly Pacers have been tinkering with their lineup and are still looking for a long-term solution at the center position. Should Tony Bradley win the job and earn more minutes, he is obviously worth a deeper look to add to fantasy rosters instead of just streaming him in on key nights.
Paul Reed (C – DET) | 4% Rostered
This may come as a total shock, but there is yet another Detroit Pistons player you need to keep an eye on for next week. Paul Reed has made the most of his starting opportunities with Jalen Duren nursing an ankle injury. Reed has played 25+ minutes over his last two games and had a massive double-double with 28 points and 13 rebounds against the Bulls on Wednesday.
Reed is another easy choice as a streaming candidate until the Pistons get fully healthy. It must feel great for fantasy managers and Pistons fans alike to see the team’s depth being tested so early in the season, and having a lot of players step up nicely in these larger roles.
Free-Throw Percentage
Goga Bitadze (C – ORL) | 6% Rostered
Goga has contributed in many categories as of late, with his free throw percentage, rebounds and blocks all climbing over the last three games. Bitadze has carved out a nice bench role for himself with a consistent 15-18 minutes per game.
Apparently, that’s all Goga needs to get going. It’s not easy for a player to be fantasy relevant without a consistent 22-25 minutes per game, but Goga is filling out his limited role nicely and should continue to do so – especially with Mo Wagner and Paolo Banchero dealing with injuries.
Vince Williams Jr. (PF – MEM) | 2% Rostered
Williams earned a spot start after Ja Morant went down with an ankle injury and had not yet missed a free throw this season on 12 attempts. Yes, you read that correctly. Although Morant’s injury isn’t likely to be that serious, Williams has done more than enough to prove his worth to fantasy managers with his minutes pushing up to the 24+ per game range.
It’s not every day you find a true 100% free throw shooter on waivers. Any chance we get to see Vince Williams Jr. shoot from the line, there is a very high probability at this point that the shot is going in.
