Fantasy Football Injury Updates
Quarterback
Patrick Mahomes (QB – KC)
Patrick Mahomes went down late in the Chiefs’ loss to the Los Angeles Chargers with an incredibly awkward-looking knee injury. With this loss and the Buffalo Bills’ win over the New England Patriots, the Chiefs were eliminated from the postseason.
Mahomes posted on X, saying, “I will be back stronger than ever.”
It was later revealed he suffered a torn ACL.
It’ll be Gardner Minshew the rest of the way, which will impact the fantasy value of all other Chiefs skill position players.
Running Back
Woody Marks (RB – HOU)
Woody Marks left the Texans’ win over the Arizona Cardinals early with an ankle injury and didn’t return. He had just seven carries for 30 yards. Marks said that he could’ve returned if needed, but the Texans were in the driver’s seat.
This is still something to monitor, especially with Nick Chubb also injured.
If something happens where Chubb and Marks are out, Jawhar Jordan, a sixth-round pick in 2024 out of Louisville, who ran 15 times for 101 yards in relief of Marks, would be the next man up.
Devin Neal (RB – NO)
After scoring a four-yard touchdown, Devin Neal left the Saints’ game against the Carolina Panthers with a hamstring injury.
The Saints have already dealt with injuries to Alvin Kamara and Kendre Miller. If Neal were to miss time, the other running backs on the depth chart are Audric Estime and Evan Hull.
Zonovan Knight (RB – ARI)
Zonovan Knight was carted off the field after his first carry, which went for -2 yards. Jen Hale of FOX reported that he was “in a tremendous amount of pain.” If Knight misses time, it’ll be another committee, featuring Michael Carter and Emari Demercado.
RJ Harvey (RB – DEN)
RJ Harvey left the Broncos’ game late against the Packers with a wrist injury and was listed as questionable to return. If he’s unable to play, I’d expect Jaleel McLaughlin to be the primary ball-carrier.
Wide Receiver
Rome Odunze (WR – CHI)
Rome Odunze was supposed to suit up in Week 15, but re-aggravated a stress fracture in his foot during pre-game warmups.
Without Odunze in the lineup, Luther Burden III led the team with six catches for 84 yards and would be the receiver to target should Odunze miss more time. Note that Burden suffered an ankle injury late in the Bears’ Week 15 win over the Browns.
Davante Adams (WR – LAR)
Davante Adams got hurt in the Rams’ high-scoring affair against the Lions. He was dealing with a hamstring injury heading into the game, and he appeared to re-injure it. This is something to watch. If he’s out, Puka Nacua could very well be the weekly WR1 the rest of the way.
Christian Watson (WR – GB)
Christian Watson got hurt in the third quarter of the Packers’ game against the Denver Broncos with what looked like a painful injury.
It’s listed as a chest injury, but he appeared to be holding his arm/shoulder. We’ll see what this could be for Watson, who’s unfortunately injured quite often.
