Happy Memorial Day Weekend! As much fun as barbecuing and watching baseball can be, don’t forget to take a moment to remember the sacrifices of our veterans. If you are able to find some time to enter some MLB DFS lineups, we have the picks available for you on both DraftKings and FanDuel.
On DraftKings, we are looking at a main slate that begins at 1:35 p.m. ET and features eight games. The FanDuel slate begins earlier at 12:15 p.m. and includes an additional two games. There will be no recommendations from those games for consistency.

Sunday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings (5/24)
- Bryan Woo seems to have corrected the issues that plagued him earlier in May. He has put together three straight quality starts, with his strikeouts back up to 13 per nine innings. He has 55 strikeouts in 59 innings with only 12 walks. Woo’s matchup today is against the Kansas City Royals.
- Seth Lugo‘s win-loss record doesn’t show how well he has actually pitched so far this season. He has an ERA of 3.68 but is only 1-4. His FIP is even better than his ERA at only 2.88. Lugo’s matchup is against a Seattle Mariners team ranked in the top five in strikeout rate.
- If you’re looking for a cheaper pitcher, always go with the one with the most upside. In today’s case, Andrew Painter has shown that upside this season with five games of at least 25 fantasy points on FanDuel. Something to monitor is that after letting him go beyond 80 pitches in his first seven starts, he’s thrown fewer than 70 pitches in his last two.

- The St. Louis Cardinals are playing a road game against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park, which is still a top-five park for offense. The Reds will be sending Brady Singer to the mound. He is off to a poor start with a 6.26 ERA and 1.70 WHIP. His FIP is even worse than his ERA at 6.55.
- JJ Wetherholt has held his own against left-handed pitchers, but has thrived against right-handed pitchers like Singer. Twelve of his 14 extra-base hits have come against righties, including seven of his nine home runs.
- Alec Burleson is one hitter in the Cardinals’ lineup who is only in consideration when a right-handed pitcher is opposing him. He has an elite .946 OPS against right-handed pitchers, but only a .532 OPS against left-handed pitchers. He’s also picked it up recently, with hits in seven of his last 16 at-bats.
- While Ivan Herrera is the preferred catcher option in traditional fantasy formats, Pedro Pages is also an option in DFS against right-handed pitchers. All four of Pages’ home runs have come against right-handed pitchers, which gives him a respectable .731 OPS against them.

- The Los Angeles Dodgers are taking on Milwaukee Brewers right-handed pitcher Brandon Sproat. His 5.75 ERA is nearly in line with 5.81 FIP. His biggest issue has been putting too many runners on base. He has a 1.50 WHIP, with at least part of his issues being attributed to his 13% walk rate. If you put that many players on base against the Dodgers, it can get bad in a hurry.
- Make sure that Max Muncy is in the lineup before you lock in your DFS lineups. He missed yesterday’s game after being hit on the wrist by an errant pitch the night before. If he’s playing, he’s someone I want in my lineups. He’s always been a strong power-hitting option, but has taken it to a new level early this season with an 18% barrel rate.
- Seeing Teoscar Hernandez at only $4,100 on DraftKings makes him an easy recommendation. He’s starting to hit for more power recently, with four doubles and three home runs over the past two weeks. Two of those home runs have come in the last three games, including one last night.
- It’s already been announced that Dalton Rushing will be starting at catcher today instead of Will Smith. Rushing hasn’t hit a home run in his last 18 games, but continues to post a strong barrel rate (11%) and hard-hit rate (43.4%).

Core Studs
- The Yankees have a matchup today against left-handed pitcher Shane McClanahan. He has been on a nice run recently, which is why I didn’t pick the Yankees as a suggested lineup stack, even though they typically dominate left-handed pitchers. However, if you choose to select one Yankee, go with Aaron Judge, who has two home runs against McClanahan in 20 career at-bats.
- Ian Happ has been in a bit of a tailspin recently, which has caused his price to fall to a more reasonable valuation. A home game against a right-handed pitcher is the type of matchup that Happ loves. He has a .912 OPS in home games and a .851 OPS against right-handed pitchers.
- Elly De La Cruz continues to be more of a power hitter against left-handed pitchers. This season, his OPS against lefties is .954. Against right-handed pitchers, his OPS drops to .851. His matchup today is against left-handed pitcher Matthew Liberatore.
Value Plays/Punts
- Trevor Larnach is only playable against right-handed pitchers. His matchup today is against righty Sonny Gray. Larnach has gone 3-for-5 against Gray in his career with a pair of home runs.
- For the second day in a row, we’re going with Alec Bohm at his price point. It didn’t work great yesterday, but 1-for-3 with a run and a walk isn’t going to be the reason you didn’t make money either. Bohm has hits in 12 of his last 13 games.
- Andrew Vaughn has a difficult matchup today against Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Vaughn has only played 14 games due to his hand injury, but he’s been back in his middle-of-the-order lineup spot the past few days against the Dodgers. Just a quick reminder that he has an .883 OPS in essentially half a season since coming to Milwaukee last year.

Sunday’s Top 3 Underdog Player Props
There are different ways to approach Jordan Walker against Brady Singer today. His total bases play is also interesting, but we’re going to back his ability to drive runners home.
Singer’s struggles were discussed earlier. Meanwhile, Walker has settled into the cleanup spot in the lineup, which should set him up for RBI opportunities. He has seven RBI in the first two games of this series.
Brandon Sproat has a difficult matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers. They scored 11 runs against the Brewers yesterday. Sproat has allowed at least three earned runs in four of his last five starts.
William Contreras was given an off day yesterday. Hopefully, that won’t cool him down. He has exceeded a combined 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs in six of his last seven games.
Contreras is a good hitter anywhere, but plays even better at American Family Field. His OPS in home games is .862; in road games, it drops to .703.
