Thursday’s Top MLB DFS Picks & Player Props
Thursday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings (5/28)
Paul Skenes is comfortably the best pitcher on tonight’s three-game DFS main slate. According to FanGraphs, among the six probable starting pitchers, Skenes’s 2.41 xERA is the only one below 4.10.
In 11 starts across 60 innings, Skenes has a 3.00 ERA, 3.03 xFIP, 2.87 SIERA, 0.82 WHIP, 3.9% walk rate, 28% strikeout rate, six wins and five quality starts.
Skenes has an acceptable matchup and outstanding betting info. The Cubs are tied for 10th in wRC+ (105) with a 20.6% strikeout rate versus righties and ninth in wRC+ (100) with a 22.5% strikeout rate on the road. Still, the Pirates are -170 favorites, and the game’s total is 7.5 runs.
Nathan Eovaldi has pitched well this season, and he’d be the second-best starting pitcher on tonight’s slate based on his 2026 work. However, his numbers at home are the most significant reason to use him. In 77.2 innings at home since last season, Eovaldi has tallied a 2.55 ERA, 3.03 xFIP, 0.94 WHIP, 5.3% walk rate and 26.5% strikeout rate.
Eovaldi’s matchup is mixed, but his betting info is good. The Astros are tied for 10th in wRC+ (105) with a 21.7% strikeout rate versus righties and tied for fourth in wRC+ (114) with an 18.7% strikeout rate on the road this season.
Fortunately for Eovaldi, Houston is in a funk, ranking 21st in wRC+ (90) with a 23.3% strikeout rate in the previous 30 days. The Rangers are -150 favorites, and the game’s total is a pitcher-friendly 7.5 runs.
Suggested Lineup Stacks
The Blue Jays have a juicy matchup against a familiar face. Chris Bassitt has a 5.51 ERA, 4.85 xERA, 4.77 xFIP, 4.63 SIERA and 1.67 WHIP in 10 appearances (eight starts) this season.
Toronto’s most appealing stacking options are their left-handed batters and switch-hitters. Bassitt has coughed up a slate-high .364 wOBA to 555 left-handed batters since last year. The Orioles also have a bottom-10 bullpen in ERA in 2026.
