Derek Brown shares his outlook for the players selected below:
1.07 – Makai Lemon (WR – PHI)
Makai Lemon is headed to Philly as the team’s replacement for A.J. Brown, who almost assuredly will be moved this summer in a trade. The Eagles selected Lemon with the 20th overall pick in the draft. Lemon should immediately be the team’s starting slot receiver. How much he plays on the boundary in 2026 is up in the air. Last year, Philly was 15th in 11 personnel usage (59.3%). I expect that number to climb this year with a new offensive coordinator and Lemon on the roster. Lemon (at worst) is a top-six selection in every rookie draft and could be viewed as the WR1 to the WR5 of this class. While we can split hairs about who we all want to draft among the first-round wide receivers selected in this class, Lemon shouldn’t fall past the 1.06 in any format. He could have a strong rookie season in Philly, competing for the team lead in targets with Devonta Smith and Dallas Goedert, but I also wouldn’t be shocked if he is third in that pecking order when it’s all said and done for 2026, with the upside to lead the team in targets in 2027.
2.07 – Nicholas Singleton (RB – TEN)
Nicholas Singleton arrives with the Titans via the fifth round of the NFL Draft. Singleton will start the process as the RB4 on the depth chart, but it wouldn’t shock me if he were Tony Pollard‘s backup by Week 1. Pollard and Tyjae Spears are unrestricted free agents after the 2026 season. I know the odds are slim for a fifth-round pick to walk into the next season as the unquestioned starter for an NFL team, but Singleton could have that run out if everything breaks right for him in 2026. I’m lower on him as a talent, but he’s a decent upside bet that could be made cheaply in dynasty rookie drafts.
3.07 – Skyler Bell (WR – BUF)
Skyler Bell is headed to Buffalo to catch passes from Josh Allen after being selected in the fourth round of the NFL Draft. Bell will have to hop Joshua Palmer and possibly Keon Coleman to hit the starting lineup. My worry for Bell is that Buffalo will continue to deploy a wide receiver by committee approach with Joe Brady at the helm, which would cap his upside and drop his floor yearly, even if he can win a “starting” spot. The talent is there for Bell to earn his way up the depth chart and fight Khalil Shakir for the WR2 role behind DJ Moore, though. Bell is a nice upside swing in the mid/late second round of rookie drafts.
4.07 – Ja’Kobi Lane (WR – BAL)
Lane is headed to Baltimore via the third round of the NFL Draft. Lane’s film and production profile are ok, but they aren’t outstanding. He was 52nd in yards per route run last season, and he has a 61st percentile breakout age. Baltimore has long coveted these field-stretching receiving types and hoped to mold them into more. It hasn’t worked out well for Baltimore. Lane is worth taking a shot on late in the second round/early third round of dynasty rookie drafts. Lane will have to beat out Rashod Bateman or Elijah Sarratt to crack the starting lineup in 2026 to crack the starting lineup. Bateman is signed through 2029 with the team.
5.07 – Sam Roush (TE – CHI)
The Bears surprisingly pulled the trigger and drafted Roush in the third round of the NFL Draft. Colston Loveland isn’t going anywhere. Cole Kmet isn’t a free agent until 2028, but Chicago could cut him after the 2026 season and save a little over 4 million against the cap. Roush is a decent late-round rookie dart, but this feels like the dollar store version of Isiah Likely’s situation previously with Baltimore. Roush could just be a decent TE2 for Chicago when they feature 12 personnel and nothing more.
