Fantasy Baseball 10 Burning Questions

1. How good is Luis Garcia Jr.?

Luis Garcia Jr. has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball. He’s now homered nine times in his last 12 games. He’s already set a new career-high. It’s clear that the Nationals’ new front office knows how to get more out of their hitters. Just look up and down that lineup. This makes me hopeful that Garcia can retain his value throughout the season.

2. Who is a good buy-low hitter?

Gunnar Henderson is a good buy-low candidate. Even though he’s slashing .226/.299/.410 with 16 home runs and seven stolen bases, that kind of power and speed upside is worth a look. His low batting average feels unsustainable, especially since his batting average on balls in play (BABIP) is a career-low .258.

3. Who will trade for Jack Flaherty?

Since returning from injury, Jack Flaherty has allowed zero earned runs over 10.2 innings. With the Tigers likely selling at the trade deadline, we could see them ship Flaherty to a contender. A reunion in St. Louis makes a lot of sense, especially since they’ve exceeded expectations and could use another pitcher.

4. Who will trade for CJ Abrams?

CJ Abrams was a hot topic in offseason trade rumors. Even though the Nationals have exceeded expectations, there’s a chance they could stock up on more top prospects in an Abrams trade. The Yankees have a clear need at shortstop, so they would make a lot of sense. That would be huge for Abrams’ fantasy value.

5. Who will trade for Reid Detmers?

Reid Detmers has been rock-solid for the Angels this season. Since they’re out of contention, as they seem to be every year, you have to think they’ll try to cash in on Detmers. Reports indicate that their asking price is high, which could prevent Detmers from being traded. A deal to the Braves makes sense, especially if they miss out on Tarik Skubal.

6. When is Munetaka Murakami coming back?

The latest report on Munetaka Murakami indicates he’s nearing a rehab assignment. There’s only one week left until the All-Star break, so holding him out until then makes a lot of sense. We should temper expectations when Murakami returns, as it might take him some time to get back into a groove.

7. Who will trade for Kevin Gausman?

Kevin Gausman has had an inconsistent season, and the Blue Jays are currently five games below .500. However, Toronto is still only three games back of the final American League Wild Card spot, so it’s unlikely they’ll sell. If they do end up selling, however, Gausman would make a lot of sense for the Braves, as they need some pitching help.

8. Is Kyle Stowers back?

Kyle Stowers burst onto the scene last season, homering 25 times in only 457 plate appearances. After a slow start to 2026, Stowers is rolling now, homering three times in his last two games. Enjoy the ride because he is a legit power hitter in an underrated Marlins offense.

9. Who will trade for Aroldis Chapman?

I’ve considered landing spots for Aroldis Chapman before, but I’ve come up with a new one that makes sense. How about the Marlins? They’re on fire right now, currently only one game back of the final National League Wild Card. If they keep winning, we could see them try to bolster their bullpen, especially since Pete Fairbanks has struggled.

10. Who will trade for Pete Fairbanks?

Speaking of Pete Fairbanks, I don’t think the Marlins will trade him unless they fall out of contention. If that happens, there’s a huge risk that Fairbanks won’t retain the closer role in his new landing spot, especially given his tough year. With that in mind, I’d look to abandon ship if you have Fairbanks.
