Fantasy Football: 3 Breakout Wide Receivers to Target (2026)

Every year, there’s always a new crop of top wide receivers in fantasy football. These could be players a few seasons in, finally getting the offense down and reaching their full potential — a rookie bursting onto the scene or a veteran finally putting it all together.

Last season, we saw an excellent season from Wan’Dale Robinson, who finished as the WR11 in PPR leagues. We also saw Michael Wilson put up a WR16 season. The point is that there’s plenty of late-round wide receiver talent that will become every-week starters in your lineup.

Breakout Fantasy Football Wide Receivers

Below are three wide receivers I believe are in store for a breakout campaign.

Rome Odunze (WR – CHI)

Currently going as the WR28 in PPR leagues, per FantasyPros’ average draft position (ADP), things are looking optimistic for Rome Odunze this season.

Last season, Odunze played in just 12 regular-season games after dealing with a foot injury. However, he returned in the postseason, and by all accounts, his foot is doing well; he didn’t need offseason surgery.

Also, the Bears traded wide receiver DJ Moore, a key part of the offense, to the Buffalo Bills, opening up more potential targets for Odunze.

With Moore leaving, Odunze and Luther Burden III became the top two receivers, alongside tight end Colston Loveland. Odunze’s ADP makes more sense when you consider Loveland’s performance at the end of last season and how often Burden was targeted. Burden is dealing with a groin injury and is “hopeful” for Week 1.

Those types of injuries tend to linger, and pending his own health, Odunze now has an opportunity to be the leader in target share for the Bears in an offense that head coach Ben Johnson wants to see “blowouts.”

Alec Pierce (WR – IND)

This offseason, the Colts shipped off fellow wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and awarded Alec Pierce a massive four-year, $114 million extension after catching 47 passes for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns last season. That’s an incredible 21.3 yards per catch.

With Daniel Jones on the field last season, Pierce saw a 19.9% target share, trailing Pittman (22.5%) and Tyler Warren (21.2%), but he was ahead of both in yards.

Jones has seemingly recovered well. Pittman is gone. And Pierce got a massive deal. This is setting the table for him to be a massive part of the offense alongside Warren.

Jayden Reed (WR – GB)

The Packers are a team with a lot of weapons for quarterback Jordan Love, including tight end Tucker Kraft and wide receivers Matthew Golden, Christian Watson and Jayden Reed.

Reed was injured for a large chunk of last season, but from Weeks 14 to 17, he was second on the Packers in target share (15.7%), catching 16 passes for 162 yards. He didn’t score any touchdowns.

However, over that same stretch — and warning, this is getting into small sample size territory — when Romeo Doubs wasn’t on the field, Reed led the team in target share, catching all nine of his targets for 113 yards.

Doubs signed a deal with the New England Patriots and will no longer compete with Reed for targets. Also, Watson has never played a full season in his NFL career, and Kraft is coming off a torn ACL. Reed might not be a top-10 wide receiver breakout, but he should definitely surpass his WR47 ADP by quite a bit.
