Kyler Murray (QB - ARI)
Sun, Sep 8
Player Note on Kyler Murray (QB - ARI)
Where Kyler Murray finishes in week one is largely going to depend on how he does as a passer. The Lions allowed the second-fewest rushing yards to quarterbacks in 2018, and their slate included Dak Prescott, Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Mitch Trubisky, Cam Newton, and Josh Allen. The Lions did allow five quarterbacks to score more than 20 against them, but weirdly enough, only one of those took place away from home. Murray is a middling QB2 due to a lower rushing floor in this matchup.
Jimmy Graham (TE - GB)
Thu, Sep 5
Player Note on Jimmy Graham (TE - GB)
Graham put up a grand total of 40 yards and failed to score in his two games against the Bears last year. It's possible that Matt LaFleur will revive the 32-year-old's career, but until you see proof of that, leave him on your bench.
Trey Burton (TE - CHI)
Thu, Sep 5
Player Note on Trey Burton (TE - CHI)
Burton manged just 51 yards in two games against the Packers last year, and is banged up going into this matchup. There are better streaming options available.
Anthony Miller (WR - CHI)
Thu, Sep 5
Player Note on Anthony Miller (WR - CHI)
Miller posted just 14 yards in his lone matchup with the Packers last year and managed just one game with 50 or more yards all season. He's best left on the bench until he proves otherwise.
Allen Robinson (WR - CHI)
Thu, Sep 5
Player Note on Allen Robinson (WR - CHI)
Allen Robinson posted 115 yards and failed to score in his two games against the Packers in 2018. The 26-year-old had just two games in Chicago where he was able to reach double-digit fantasy points in half PPR formats. Robinson is a boom-or-bust low-end WR2 to begin the season.
Geronimo Allison (WR - GB)
Thu, Sep 5
Player Note on Geronimo Allison (WR - GB)
To open the season last year, Allison caught six passes for 69 yards and a score against the Bears. The move to the slot should provide Allison with more opportunities as Rodgers looks to get rid of the ball quickly against Chicago's ferocious pass-rush. Allison is an upside flex play to begin the season.
Davante Adams (WR - GB)
Thu, Sep 5
Player Note on Davante Adams (WR - GB)
In half PPR formats, Adams has had at least 15.9 points in three of his last four games against the Bears. He scored in the one game he failed to reach that number. Adams was responsible for two of the six highest scoring outputs by receivers against the Bears in 2018. Fire him up as a WR1 to start the season and don't look back.
Tevin Coleman (RB - SF)
Thu, Sep 5
Player Note on Tevin Coleman (RB - SF)
Tampa was the sixth most generous defense when it came to defending running backs in 2018. The Bucs allowed the most touchdowns through the air to backs, which should benefit Coleman in Shanahan's offense. Coleman is a high-end RB3 to begin the season.
Devonta Freeman (RB - ATL)
Thu, Sep 5
Player Note on Devonta Freeman (RB - ATL)
Facing the Vikings defense was not as daunting a proposition for running backs in 2018. In half PPR formats, Minnesota allowed eight backs to reach double-digit points, including four who scored more than 14. Seven of the 10 rushing touchdowns that Minnesota allowed came at home. The Vikings also lost Sheldon Richardson in the offseason and failed to adequately replace him. Freeman should see enough of a workload to start the season as an RB2.
Dalvin Cook (RB - MIN)
Thu, Sep 5
Player Note on Dalvin Cook (RB - MIN)
In 2018, Atlanta's run defense was … not good. In half PPR formats, they allowed 12 running backs to score 17 or more and gave up nine touchdowns to opposing backs on the road. This is an ideal matchup for Cook to start the season. In 2018, Cook averaged 15.1 points at home, and he should be more of a focal point this season. He's a mid-level RB1 in week one.
