Franklin Gutierrez being considered by the Rays

by Chris Zolli | Tue, Feb 7th 8:14pm EST

Franklin Gutierrez has struggled to find a team for the 2017 season, but with Chris Carter and Mike Napoli off of the market, the Rays may be interested. Gutierrez has not had more than 250 at-bats since 2011, but could provide right handed power for Tampa Bay. He had a .780 OPS for Seattle in 2016. (Marc Tompkin on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Gutierrez saw his OPS drop from .974 in 2015, but did have 14 home runs in 98 games last season. He has posted at least a .452 slugging percentage in each of his last three seasons and hit at least 10 home runs in limited play during his three seasons with Seattle. The Rays need more outfield power, even with the addition of Colby Rasmus, and Gutierrez would be a useful reserve corner OF.
