Ariel Miranda (8-6) pitched 4.2 scoreless innings Friday, yielding two hits and four walks while striking out three in Seattle's 2-1 win over the Yankees. He did not factor into the decision.
In his five August starts, Miranda has not been able to make beyond the sixth inning. The 27-year-old southpaw was relieved Friday by Emilio Pagan after throwing an inefficient 99 pitches, of which only 52 found the strike zone. On the bright side, it was the first time in six starts he did not surrender a long ball, and only the third time in his last 14 outings. Miranda now has a 4.62 ERA and 1.20 WHIP on the season, and is certainly not a safe fantasy option. His next scheduled start is Wednesday against the Orioles at Camden Yards.
