Colby Rasmus is heading to the disabled list

by Mike Maher | Sat, Apr 7th 12:16pm EDT

Colby Rasmus is being placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left hip flexor strain, the team announced on Twitter Saturday. RHP Jimmy Yacabonis is being recalled from Triple-A Norfolk to take his place on the roster. (Baltimore Orioles on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact:

Rasmus was off to a rough start to the season, batting just .095 and striking out 13 times in his first 21 at-bats. He played in just 37 games last season and stepped away from the game entirely after he hit the disabled list with a hip injury in June. He was placed on the restricted list by the Tampa Bay Rays and it was not clear if he would ever return to baseball. While it is too soon to jump to the conclusion that this hip injury is once again serious to enough for him to consider stepping away again, it is certainly a worrisome development. Monitor his status in the coming days to see if more information becomes available.
