Gerrit Cole fans nine, walks none in win Friday

Gerrit Cole pitched seven innings, allowing no runs on two hits and no walks while striking out nine in New York’s 13-0 victory over Detroit on Friday.

Cole absolutely dominated Detroit on Friday, taking a perfect game into the seventh inning before allowing back to back singles to Jonathan Schoop and Miguel Cabrera. Cole’s perfect game bid was the second straight game the Yankees’ starter has been perfect through seven innings. Cole has also struck out at least nine batters in six straight starts after his nine whiffs on Friday and now has 81 in 64 2/3 innings. Cole carries a 2.78 ERA and 0.96 WHIP into his next start Thursday against the Twins.
