Angels trade Marc Krauss to Rays for Kyle Winkler

by Jamison Malasko | Thu, Jun 25th 9:18pm EDT

The Rays have acquired first baseman/outfielder Marc Krauss from the Angels. The Angels will receive minor-league pitcher Kyle Winkler in exchange, the Rays announced on Thursday. Krauss, 27, has spent most of the season in Triple-A, batting .289 with four home runs in 47 games for Salt Lake City. He did appear in 11 games for the Angels this year, going 5 for 35 with a home run. Winkler has produced a 0.96 ERA over 9 1/3 innings at Double-A this season. He also has 13 strikeouts with no walks.

Fantasy Impact:

For the Angels it looks like they are getting a young arm who can strike out hitters. This is a good trade for them because you're giving away a utility man in Krauss that has spent some time in the Majors but has not done much with his opportunity and received a young arm who you hope can develop.
