Ranger Suarez (forearm) throws successful bullpen

by Brenton Kemp | Phillies Correspondent | Sat, Mar 18th 6:31pm EDT

Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Ranger Suarez threw a short, successful bullpen session on Friday as he works his way back from tenderness in his left forearm. (MLB.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Phillies skipper Rob Thomson said the session went well and it appears Suarez could make his first start of the regular season, albeit on a pitch count, according to Thomson. Suarez turned in a rock-solid 3.65 ERA across 29 starts in 2022, getting most of his outs on the ground with a 55.4% ground-ball rate. The southpaw doesn't sport great swing-and-miss stuff but could be a quality source of ERA and wins if healthy in 2023.
