Sandy Alcantara shaky in Opening Day start

by Dan Tursky | Marlins Correspondent | Thu, Mar 30th 5:58pm EDT

Sandy Alcantara lasted 5 2/3 innings against the Mets on Thursday, but coughed up three runs (two earned) on three hits while striking out two and walking four.

Fantasy Impact:

It was a shaky Opening Day outing for the reigning NL Cy Young, who managed to throw just 57 of his 96 total pitches for strikes. For context, Alcantara only threw more than four walks once across the entire 2022 season and never struck out less than three hitters. Hopefully this underwhelming start can simply be chalked up to Opening Day jitters. Alcantara will have a great chance to rebound against the Twins in his next outing.
