Aaron Ashby to undergo shoulder surgery

Ashby was placed on the 15-day injured list to begin the season after dealing with a left labrum issue in camp and will now be sidelined until late in the season at best, according to skipper Craig Counsell. It's a significant blow for the Brewers as Ashby posted a 4.44 ERA across 107 1/3 innings last season in 27 outings between 19 starts and eight relief appearances. He also worked to a strong 26.5% K% but is at risk of missing the 2023 season altogether.
