Machado has been dealing with this injury throughout the season, with the last three months being especially difficult. It's unclear if the Padres will opt for the surgery while still technically in the playoff race, but he will likely have a procedure done at some point. He has not let it affect his play all too much as he is hitting .294 with a 132 wRC+ in the month of September.
