Alvarez's recovery from a right hand fracture has been slow since he landed on the injured list on May 5. However, he's now progressing, taking swings in the batting cages with coaches pitching. He'll still need to face live pitching and complete a rehab assignment before activation, but the good news is the Astros now have a clearer timeline for his return.
