Contreras was designated for assignment by the Orioles last week and will now join the Rockies, who already had an open spot on their 40-man roster. Contreras made one appearance at the big-league level for the Orioles this season, logging 4 1/3 scoreless frames back on August 27. The 25-year-old righty has been quite solid at Triple-A this year, as he's posted a 3.73 ERA across 28 games (14 starts) at that level.
