Ildemaro Vargas officially elected free agency on Thursday. The infielder lost his roster spot with the Arizona Diamondbacks as the team was required to move several other players onto the 40-man roster. (Arizona Diamondbacks)

In 2025, Vargas recorded 121 plate appearances with the Diamondbacks. His defensive utility should help him land another contract elsewhere this offseason.
