Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow said Monday that Marcelo Mayer’s recovery from right wrist surgery has progressed to the point that he could have been available if the team had advanced further in the postseason, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports. Mayer underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right wrist in August but is expected to be fully healthy well before spring training. (Rob Bradford)

Fantasy Impact:

Mayer’s recovery puts him on track to compete for a spot on Boston’s Opening Day roster in 2026. The 22-year-old could break camp as a starter at either second or third base, depending on offseason roster moves. His combination of contact skills and developing power keeps him an intriguing stash in keeper and dynasty formats.
