Francisco Lindor (hand) to undergo evaluation Wednesday

New York Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns said on Tuesday that Francisco Lindor will be evaluated on Wednesday for a stress reaction in his left hamate bone. Stearns added that the team is optimistic Lindor will be ready for Opening Day, even if surgery is needed. (SNYtv on Twitter)

While Lindor is scheduled to undergo evaluation on Wednesday, Stearns said that if surgery is needed, the recovery timeline would be roughly six weeks and he remains confident Lindor would be ready for Opening Day. If Lindor is unable to play at the start of the season, Bo Bichette could shift to shortstop, with Brett Baty stepping in at third base.
