Cody Freeman (back) is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a stress fracture in his lower back according to Rangers' manager, Skip Schumaker. (Shawn McFarland on X)

Fantasy Impact:

Freeman made his major league debut last season with Texas and slashed .228/.258/.342 over 121 plate appearances. He fared much better at Triple-A Round Rock where he batted .336 with 19 home runs and 71 RBI in 426 plate appearances. It's unfortunate news for Freeman, who was expected to compete for an Opening Day roster spot. Instead, he will be out until late March at best and will need to ramp up before being ready for game action.
