What was originally described as an elbow issue, Birdsong's agent, Scott Boras, told Slusser that his client's issue is related to his forearm. After an initial MRI, the hard-throwing righty will seek a second opinion and is hopeful to only miss a few weeks. It's been a tough spring for the 24-year-old, who has yielded eight earned runs in just 2 1/3 innings of work.
