Jake Eder has been designated for assignment by the Washington Nationals. The move allows newly acquired Curtis Mead a spot on the 40-man roster. (Mark Zuckerman on X)

Eder posted a 2.70 ERA in 6.2 innings for the Nationals this spring. The 27-year-old lefthander has pitched in nine big league games, sporting a 4.87 ERA in 20.1 innings between the White Sox and Angels. Washington now has seven days to trade Eder or place him on unconditional waivers.
