Jonathan Loaisiga picks up save Wednesday
by David Leisering | Diamondbacks Correspondent | Thu, Apr 2nd 12:36am EDT
Jonathan Loaisiga pitched around a single and a double in the ninth inning to earn his first save of the season as the Diamondbacks defeated the Tigers, 1-0, on Wednesday.
Fantasy Impact:
Loaisiga was called upon as closer Paul Sewald had been used in each of Arizona's prior three games. Loaisiga allowed a leadoff single to Tigers' rookie Kevin McGonigle but then got Gleyber Torres to bounce into a double play. Riley Greene followed with a double but Loaisiga got a comebacker off the bat of Dillon Dingler to end the game. It was Loaisiga's first save as a Diamondback and was his ninth career save with the first eight coming as a member of the Yankees. Loaisiga may get an occasional opportunity, but Sewald is the closer in Arizona.
