Brandon Pfaadt suffers loss to Phillies Saturday
by David Leisering | Diamondbacks Correspondent | Sat, Apr 11th 6:59pm EDT
Brandon Pfaadt suffered his first loss of the season on Saturday after allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits in six innings in a 4-3 loss to Philadelphia. Pfaadt walked three and struck out six.
Fantasy Impact:
Pfaadt dropped to 0-1 in three starts this season and pitched well on Saturday - other than the third inning. Philadelphia scored all four of its runs in the third on back-to-back homers from Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper as the Phillies erased a 2-0 deficit. All told, Pfaadt allowed four runs on three hits, a walk, and a hit batter in the third inning. In the other five innings, he gave up no runs on two hits and two walks. He struck out a season-high six batters on Saturday - a good sign considering he had entered with just five punchouts in his first two starts combined. Pfaadt has gotten off to a bit of a slow start this season as he sports a 5.94 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP through 16.2 innings. He'll look for his first win of the year in his next scheduled start, currently lined up against the Blue Jays on Friday.
