Bryan Baker coughs up late lead Saturday

by Nicholas Rodriguez | Rays Correspondent | Sun, Apr 12th 4:20am EDT

Bryan Baker blew his first save of the season in Saturday’s 5-4 extra-inning victory over the New York Yankees, allowing two earned runs on two hits and a walk while failing to record a strikeout on 20 pitches.

Fantasy Impact:

Baker entered the game in the eighth inning and retired the first batter, but then allowed a walk and two doubles, leading to two runs and a 3-2 Yankees lead. Despite blowing the save, he should remain an option to receive opportunities in the Tampa Bay Rays’ closer-by-committee approach as the bullpen continues to struggle. He now owns a 4.50 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through six innings and will likely get Sunday off after pitching on consecutive days.
