Nick Martinez limits damage against Yankees Saturday
by Nicholas Rodriguez | Rays Correspondent | Sun, Apr 12th 4:15am EDT
Nick Martinez allowed one earned run on five hits and three walks while striking out four over 4.2 innings in Saturday’s 5-4 extra-inning victory over the New York Yankees.
Fantasy Impact:
Martinez’s lone run allowed came in the second inning on a solo shot by Austin Wells. He worked out of a first-inning jam, and Kevin Kelly recorded the final out of the fifth after Martinez left runners on second and third. Martinez is off to an excellent start, posting a 2.16 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 11 strikeouts across 16.2 innings. He has proven to be a reliable streaming option and is an intriguing pickup for his next scheduled outing on Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
