Carmen Mlodzinski earns first win of season Wednesday
by David Leisering | Pirates Correspondent | Wed, Apr 15th 11:39pm EDT
Carmen Mlodzinski pitched six innings of two-hit ball on Wednesday as the Pirates blanked the Nationals, 2-0. The righthander walked two and struck out five.
Fantasy Impact:
Mlodzinski came on in relief of the Pirates' opener, Mason Montgomery, and was brilliant over his six scoreless innings. He threw 81 pitches - 55 for strikes - and allowed five baserunners (two hits, two walks, one hit batter) with only two reaching as far as second base. Mlodzinski moved to 1-0 on the season and lowered his ERA to 1.77. The righthander is tentatively scheduled to face the Rangers on Tuesday, though it's unclear if he will start or come out of the pen.
