Jose Soriano improves to 5-0 with another scoreless outing Friday

by David Leisering | Angels Correspondent | Sat, Apr 18th 4:51pm EDT

Jose Soriano pitched 5.2 scoreless innings on Friday to improve to 5-0 on the season as the Angels blanked the Padres, 8-0. Soriano allowed two hits, while walking four and striking out eight.

Fantasy Impact:

Soriano has been so dominant to start the season, he suffered his shortest and, arguably, his worst start of the season and still put up zeroes through 5.2 innings on Friday. The righthander threw 99 pitches with just over half of them for strikes as he tied a season-high with four walks. Soriano, however, allowed only two singles - one to Ty France in the third and one to Manny Machado in the sixth. It was his fourth start allowing only two hits and, in his other outing, he surrendered three hits in eight innings against the Braves. Soriano is putting up video game numbers with a 5-0 record, a 0.28 ERA, and a 0.73 WHIP while limiting opponents to a .104 batting average (11 hits in 32.2 innings), and posting a 39:13 K:BB ratio. He has been the best pitcher in fantasy to date and he still, somehow is not owned in 100% of leagues. Soriano is lined up to face the Blue Jays on Wednesday.
