Ryne Nelson can't escape first inning Sunday

by David Leisering | Diamondbacks Correspondent | Mon, Apr 20th 8:56am EDT

Ryne Nelson recorded just one out on Sunday, but not before allowing eight runs on eight hits and a walk in Arizona's 10-4 loss to Toronto.

Fantasy Impact:

Well ... that escalated quickly. Nelson allowed the first eight Blue Jay hitters to reach base on seven straight hits and a walk before striking out Brandon Valenzuela. However, Nathan Lukes followed with his second hit of the inning to end Nelson's day. He faced 10 batters, but threw only 30 pitches as the Blue Jays were aggressive in jumping on the righthander early and often. Nelson saw his ERA go from 3.54 to 6.97 and his WHIP move from 1.03 to 1.45 after the disaster. He'll look to bounce back on Sunday against the Padres in his next scheduled start.
