Carmen Mlodzinski allowed five runs on eight hits, while walking two and striking out a career-high 10 in 5.2 innings on Saturday as the Pirates defeated the Reds, 17-7.
Fantasy Impact:
It wasn't his best outing as he allowed a season-high tying five runs, a season-high eight hits, and his first home run of the year. But, the career-high 10 strikeouts were certainly a bonus for fantasy owners. Mlodzinski started the year with a 1.77 ERA over his first four outings. But, in his last three starts, he has pitched to a 9.22 ERA, allowing 14 earned runs on 19 hits in 13.2 innings. However, he has struck out 20 batters over the last three and he is tied for 11th in the National League with 40 strikeouts. He's scheduled to face the Giants, in San Francisco, on Friday.
