Michael Lorenzen suffers fifth straight loss Saturday

Michael Lorenzen allowed five runs on eight hits in five innings on Saturday as he fell to 2-7 on the season after a 5-4 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Lorenzen suffered his fifth consecutive loss and has now allowed at least five earned runs in three of his last four starts. He has also allowed at least five hits in 10 of his 11 starts this season. Among qualified pitchers, Lorenzen has the worst ERA (7.21) in baseball with the next closest being Houston's Mike Burrows (5.75). Lorenzen's .353 batting average against is also worst in the majors with St. Louis' Matthew Liberatore (.297) the closest. He is tentatively lined up to take on the Giants on Friday.
