Carlos Cortes went 2-for-4 in a win over the Padres with a solo home run and one walk.

Cortes has caught fire again at the plate, picking up hits in each of his last seven games. The outfielder continues to offer manager Mark Kotsay one of the more explosive options when part of an inconsistent Athletics lineup, slashing .350 with five home runs, 17 RBI, 13 runs scored, and one stolen base across 42 games.
