Ryne Nelson serves up four homers in Saturday loss

by David Leisering | Diamondbacks Correspondent | Sun, May 31st 8:31am EDT

Ryne Nelson allowed five runs - four earned - on seven hits in 5.1 innings on Saturday as the Diamondbacks suffered a 5-1 setback to the Mariners.

Fantasy Impact:

Nelson did not walk a batter and struck out three, but allowed four solo home runs - two in the second and two in the third - which proved to be his downfall. He has now allowed 15 home runs this season, tied for third-most in the National League. The righthander had been pitching well this month, allowing three earned runs or fewer in each of his first five May starts before Saturday's outing. Despite the hiccup, Nelson still had a solid month, going 1-2 with a 2.95 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP in 39.2 innings over six outings. He's got another tough matchup on tap as he gets the Dodgers at home on Thursday.
