Jared Jones goes five scoreless in win over Astros

Jared Jones allowed four hits, walked two, and struck out four over five scoreless innings as the Pirates defeated the Astros, 5-1, on Thursday.
Fantasy Impact:
After missing all of 2025 and making only his second start of 2026, Jones earned his first victory since September 8, 2024, by holding the Astros scoreless through five innings on Thursday. The righthander threw 74 pitches, three fewer than his first start last Friday against the Twins, so the Pirates are certainly easing him back into game action. Through two starts this season, Jones is 1-0 and has allowed five runs on 11 hits with a 10:4 K:BB ratio in 9.1 innings. He's lined up to face the Dodgers, at home, on Wednesday and will likely be on a pitch count for a couple more starts. But, Thursday was certainly a huge step forward.
