Edward Cabrera hammered in return to rotation Friday

by David Leisering | Cubs Correspondent | Sat, Jun 6th 7:27am EDT

Edward Cabrera allowed eight runs on eight hits, including three home runs, across 3.1 innings on Friday as the Cubs dropped an 18-3 decision to the Giants.

Fantasy Impact:

Cabrera returned to the Cubs' rotation on Friday after a short stint on the injured list due to a blister and was greeted rudely by the Giants' offense. He allowed a two-run homer to Willy Adames in the first, settled down a bit in the second and third innings, then was charged with six runs while recording just one out in the fourth. He served up two more homers in the fourth - a grand slam by Matt Chapman and a two-run blast by Casey Schmitt. Cabrera, who was acquired in a trade with the Marlins in January, has now allowed three runs or more in nine consecutive starts dating back to April 11. During that stretch, he has pitched to a 6.26 ERA over 46 innings while allowing 11 home runs. Overall, he is 3-3 with a 4.99 ERA across 11 starts this season and it won't get any easier in his next scheduled start as he'll get the Rockies at Coors Field on Thursday.
