Jack Perkins allowed five earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six over four innings in Friday's loss to the Astros.

Perkins has struggled to miss opposing bats of late, allowing three earned runs or more in three of his last five trips to the mound. The right-hander remains difficult to trust as part of an underwhelming Athletics staff for manager Mark Kotsay, posting a 6.19 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with an 11.0 K/9 ratio and 2-3 record across 18 appearances.
