Francisco Alvarez (knee) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, and his return is expected to end Torrens' run as the Mets' primary catcher. Torrens is batting .233 with a .638 OPS, 15 RBI, 13 runs scored, and nine doubles across 113 plate appearances this season.
Fantasy Impact:
He has nine hits including two doubles over his last eight games and hit his first home run of the year Friday — a two-run shot — in his second consecutive multi-hit effort. Torrens finished 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored in the 5-0 win over San Diego.
