Andrew Abbott hurls quality start, takes loss Monday versus Padres

by Brenton Kemp | Reds Correspondent | Tue, Jun 9th 9:19am EDT

Reds left-hander Andrew Abbott allowed three earned runs across six innings while taking the loss on Monday against the Padres.

Fantasy Impact:

Abbott was solid in this one, allowing four hits, including a homer, while walking two and striking out six in his six innings of work. Despite the quality start, Abbott's offense was unable to offer much support while the bullpen allowed San Diego to tack on another three runs in a 6-2 defeat. The quality start was Abbott's third in a row, while he has allowed three earned runs or less in eight consecutive starts dating back to April 30. Although his 4.10 ERA is serviceable, he also owns a 4.89 xFIP and a 5.04 SIERA as his 53:33 K:BB through 74 2/3 innings leaves something to be desired. He is tentatively lined up to take on the Diamondbacks at home on either Saturday or Sunday.
