Reid Detmers allowed one hit in seven dominant innings on Wednesday, but had to settle for a no-decision in the Angels' 3-2, 10-inning win over the Astros.
Fantasy Impact:
Detmers did not walk a batter and struck out nine allowing just a solo home run to Shay Whitcomb to lead off the top of the sixth. He retired the first 15 batters he faced until the Whitcomb homer then erased the final six batters before exiting after seven innings. However, his chance for a win ended when Houston's Cam Smith homered off of Chase Silseth to lead off the eighth. Detmers has been one of the majors' best pitchers over the last couple of weeks as he sports a 1.73 ERA, allowing only five runs on nine hits with a 36:5 K:BB ratio in 26 innings in his last four starts. He ranks fifth in the majors - third in the American League - with 97 strikeouts and has punched out at least six batters in six straight outings. Overall, he is 2-5 with a 4.00 ERA and a 97:24 K:BB ratio in 14 starts this season. He'll get the Diamondbacks next in a road start on Tuesday.
