Jared Jones roughed up by Athletics on Monday
by David Leisering | Pirates Correspondent | Tue, Jun 16th 6:58am EDT
Jared Jones allowed five runs on eight hits - including a pair of home runs - in four innings on Monday as the Pirates suffered an 11-2 loss to the Athletics.
Fantasy Impact:
Jones walked one and struck out four but was hurt by the long ball as four of the five runs he allowed came via home runs. Jones served up a two-run homer to Nick Kurtz in the second and then another two-run shot to Jeff McNeil in the fourth. The young righthander is still shaking off the rust after missing all of last season though he does carry a solid 18:6 K:BB ratio across his 17.1 innings. However, he has allowed 12 runs on 22 hits (four home runs) across his first four starts. Jones' next start is scheduled for Sunday in Coors Field against the Rockies.
