Tomoyuki Sugano outduels Paul Skenes in win on Saturday
by David Leisering | Rockies Correspondent | Sun, Jun 21st 9:54am EDT
Tomoyuki Sugano allowed one run on four hits, did not walk a batter, and struck out five as he helped the Rockies to a 2-1 win over Paul Skenes and the Pirates on Saturday.
Fantasy Impact:
Sugano allowed a home run to Spencer Horwitz to open the game, but settled in nicely after that as he made quick work of the Pittsburgh lineup. The righthander allowed all four hits in the first 10 batters, but retired the final 12 hitters he faced after Horwitz singled to lead off the third. It was the first time since April 29 that he allowed one run or fewer in a game and he improved to 4-0 in four starts this month, despite a 5.14 ERA in 21 innings. Sugano will take on the Twins, in Minnesota, in his next scheduled start on Friday.
