Zac Gallen hammered in loss to Minnesota on Saturday

by David Leisering | Diamondbacks Correspondent | Sun, Jun 21st 10:20am EDT

Zac Gallen allowed nine runs on 12 hits, walked two, and struck out two in four-plus innings on Saturday as the Diamondbacks suffered a 16-8 loss to the Twins.

Fantasy Impact:

Gallen allowed two runs in the first, four in the fourth, and pitched to three batters in the fifth with all three reaching and coming in to score. With the disastrous outing, Gallen now has the highest ERA among qualified starters in all of baseball at 6.10. This month, he is 0-2 with an 8.85 ERA and has allowed 36 hits in 20.1 innings (.387 opponents' average). Once a Cy Young candidate, Gallen will still provide a decent outing here and there but he is no longer a must-rostered pitcher in fantasy leagues. He's lined up to pitch against the Cardinals at home on Friday in his next start.
