by Brenton Kemp | Blue Jays Correspondent | Tue, Jun 23rd 8:52am EDT
Blue Jays right-hander Louis Varland pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up a save in a 4-2 win over the Astros on Monday.
Fantasy Impact:
Varland got the ball with a two-run lead in the ninth, but immediately brought the tying run to the plate after issuing a leadoff walk to Yainer Diaz. However, Varland would set the Astros down in order from there, striking out pinch-hitter Taylor Trammell to end it. Varland is now a clean 16-for-16 in save opportunities and sports a 0.84 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP with 58 strikeouts against 12 walks through 38 appearances and 43 innings this season.
