Tyler Phillips takes loss despite strong performance

by Nicholas Rodriguez | Marlins Correspondent | Sun, Jun 28th 8:34pm EDT

Tyler Phillips gave up two runs on six hits and no walks while recording one strikeout across 7.1 innings in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Fantasy Impact:

Although he took the loss on Sunday, Phillips turned in another strong outing, allowing two runs while throwing a season-high 97 pitches. His only blemish was a two-run homer to Bryan Torres in the second inning, and he otherwise did an excellent job limiting the damage despite recording just one strikeout. Phillips has now delivered back-to-back quality starts and owns a 4.35 ERA and 1.23 WHIP across six starts this season. He is scheduled to make his next start on Friday against the Athletics.
