Trent Thornton underwent X-rays on his left heel following Monday's 8-6 loss to the Detroit Tigers. The results came back negative for any structural damage. (MLB.com)

Thornton took a line drive off the bat of Riley Greene off his left heel during Monday's 8-6 loss to the Detroit Tigers. He walked off with assistance following the play and has since been diagnosed with a left heel contusion. Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Thornton was limping after the game and will undergo further testing on Tuesday.
