Cincinnati Reds manager Terry Francona said on Monday that Matt McLain responded well following his on-field batting practice session. (MLB.com)

McLain has been sidelined since July 8 due to a left calf strain. He responded well to hitting on the field, though it's unclear if he'll require a minor league rehab assignment before being activated. Fantasy managers can expect him to return in late July or early August.
